I've been reading Ezra T. Benson's book An Enemy Hath Done This and I have to say I am highly impressed. It's both disheartening and reassuring that his generation struggled with the same conflict that our society battles today. I guess it makes sense, considering this is the conflict which has been taking place from the beginning.
My issue with the liberal agenda is that it espouses the very ideals which Satan proposed in the pre-existence. Yes, you heard me right, and you may read it again if you like. I'm saying if you are a Democrat or liberal in general you support a party in line with the ideals of Lucifer.
Satan's plan was coerced equality and a guaranteed existence culminating in salvation. The clincher? Satan would take the Father's glory upon himself. How absurd?! Now explain to me how a political ideal, and more specifically the Democratic party which gives home to the agendas which support the destruction of un-born infants, supports homosexuality, and guarantees that the State will provide all because you're too incompetent to provide for yourself is any different? Furthermore, a party which presented a candidate who, when called "The One" or the "Messiah" accepted it without any reservations.
This quote from Dean Alfange sums it up:
I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek opportunity to develop whatever talents God gave me – not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say – “This, with God’s help, I have done.” All this is what it means to be an American.
