I had this quote forwarded to me in what might end up being old news to some. Whether the quote is really from an individual named Dr. Adrian Rogers or not, the statement reflects truth and is a principle that I hope our new president is willing to embrace.
"STATEMENTS MADE BY THE LATE DR. ADRIAN ROGERS OF BELLEVUE BAPTIST CHURCH, MEMPHIS , TENNESSEE :
YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE THE POOR INTO FREEDOM BY LEGISLATING THE WEALTHY OUT OF FREEDOM. WHAT ONE PERSON RECEIVES WITHOUT WORKING FOR, ANOTHER PERSON MUST WORK FOR WITHOUT RECEIVING.
THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT GIVE TO ANYBODY ANYTHING THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT FIRST TAKE FROM SOMEBODY ELSE. WHEN HALF OF THE PEOPLE GET THE IDEA THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WORK BECAUSE THE OTHER HALF IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, AND WHEN THE OTHER HALF GETS THE IDEA THAT IT DOES NO GOOD TO WORK BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE IS GOING TO GET WHAT THEY WORK FOR, THAT MY DEAR FRIEND, IS ABOUT THE END OF ANY NATION.
YOU CANNOT MULTIPLY WEALTH BY DIVIDING IT"
Amen and Amen. The gospel is amazing in that we are able to promote the good of the whole but not in a way that is at the loss of any individual. With temporal government, that ideal just does not seem possible. Hence the above statement offering the most noble alternative to a consecrated existence.
It is a sad state of affairs that so many here, in this country, don't understand such basic ideas. It is easy to solicit support when it is paid for, as is the case today. If one has nothing, and an offer is made to be given at the expense of another, so be it. Who cares? We have moved into a "take what you can" society, where "bling" is all that counts.
ReplyDeleteWe will probably never be a world power again, and we will have lost all that we built.
Is it too late?
I think all of these statements are uttered from a very selfish indoctrination in world view; why do we need to be lamenting about being or not world power? Why if so, Mr. Roger understood that the world is only about taking from somebody's assets to give them to somebody who had not worked for? Of course, if we see the world that way, we will be lamenting so badly because we are not been taught about real justice but only about selfish justice that allow us to accumulate power for us because we want power only for us, not because we are right about it but because we want all the world hegemony only for us to control the world to steal from the other countries what they have so that we can live a selfish good stander of living without caring about the rest of the world, specially the third world and nowadays the population of Europe is crying loudly also in being robbed and sacked by those who want all only for themselves, the elites of power. So what Mr. Roger has to say about the taking away of the assets and prime materials of those poor countries and so leaving those nations in poverty and sucking their own lives so that they, the transnational companies can accumulate great power and richness? Was that a right thing to do for this man of God? If he really said the above transcribed statement he did not understood his bible and he did not know how this world, specially US operates and it is doing around the world...it seems religious leaders in US are so deeply indoctrinated that they don't see what is happening or they just pretend they do not know it.
