I, M.Galt here by make a prediction, let's call it a psychic prediction. The only thing is I'm not a psychic just person who has learned to think critically. I predict that one year from now when the economy is even worse then it currently is that Obama will say that the economy was beyond repair because of the reckless capitalist/Laissez-faire policies of the Republicans and Bush. Of course Bush has been anything but Laissez-faire about anything but by that time it wont matter it will just serve as a means for the government to capture more control over the economy.
What makes me make this prediction you ask? This story here where Obama does nothing more then hedge his campaign rhetoric about stemming the oceans tide and changing the world. He describes the economy as "bad and getting worse" no kidding. This guy is quick. But like every other failed politician he makes the same predicable mistake and says we need to "act and act now" Which being translated means "I am going to pull more money out of you the tax payers pockets, give it to people who helped me get here and their companies and watch the situation get worse."
The ends of such "action" are always predictable so my prediction really shouldn't be that surprising except to Obama sycophants who espier to be do-nothing non-profit workers. That is a force to be reckoned with though and I am sure their numbers are only growing.
I agree I think Bush has been anything but Laissez-faire with this economy. Lest we forget, it was the Clinton, not so Laissez-faire approach that added if not started the credit crisis to begin with.
ReplyDeleteWho cares at this point who started it. Both political party's are complicit in it and they both have to be corrected if we are to actually save any of it.
ReplyDeleteBut blame is what politics are all about. Accountability is important when dealing with the causes of the problems. The hope is to be able to view the actions of the past to improve upon the conditions of the future.
ReplyDeleteI think when we look back (as many have already done so) at the lending industry bailout, we will see that it has done nothing but make matters worse and has allowed the government too much control over the economy. Hopefully in the future when they come crying for more money because they feel the american people owe take away their accountability, then this lesson will be remembered and they won't get it.
So for me, part of being able to correct the problem is to make sure that we are not using a mistake from the past to solve the problems of the future.
Clearly we want to know what went wrong to be able to avoid the same mistakes in the future. However to assume it is all one political parties fault seems a bit silly would you not agree? And no I am not saying you think it is all democrats fault but I think many of us tend to lean to words the right so when the right does something screwy we feel a loyalty to stick up for them because they fight for what we want on other cases.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is not just one party's fault that things are the way they are. And to simply blame it all on big business and politicians is also not fair. Americans as a general populous have made some poor collective decisions.
