Over the weekend Barack Obama made a trip to China. Amongst other issues, Obama prodded China to take a more involved role in the climate. In other words China, you are not doing enough for the climate. For those that don't know, The United States of America is being kept afloat economically by China - for now. The Trillions in deficit that this country is currently burdened, comes primarily in the form of loans from the Chinese government. So what Obama has effectively said, 'Thank you for keeping our country afloat, thank you for paying for our bailout money that has gone to support GM and other "not so environmentally friendly auto manufacturers"; now you, China, should do more for the environment.' Nice Obama, real nice.
When Joseph Smith ran for president one of the points in his candidacy was for the abolition of slavery. Slavery being primarily based upon the principle that no one should be enslaved to another economically or otherwise. As a country, we are currently enslaved to the wills of China. If they cut off the money to this country they can call their loans due and effectively foreclose on the United States. (yes it is that real) So not only are we as a people enslaved in part due to Obama's spending, but Obama also has the nerve to go to our debtor and tell them they need to be more environmentally friendly? Seriously? Shouldn't he be over there begging China to give us more time before they dump the dollar and by so doing truly crash our economy? Just a thought, Obama, don't bite the hand that is feeding us as a nation.
China will not call our loans due right now for the simple reason that we won't pay them what we can't give.
ReplyDeleteFYI, there were slaves traveling with Mormon families with Brigham Young. That throws out your argument about Joseph Smith's abolition.
How does that throw my argument out the window? Do your research that was JOSEPH's official platform. Just because Brigham did one thing doesn't mean Joseph didn't believe in it.
ReplyDeleteYou have not done your research have you? Part of why the saints were not welcome in Missouri was that they were for the abolition of the slaves in one of the slave states. As far as your claim, while it might be true I see no reference to your source of information that Brigham Young was the slave master to anyone.
My source in case you try and throw that in my face is Joseph's presidential tract, "The Views of the Powers and Policy of the Government." It is available through this site if you search for it. This is what Joseph stood for and Brigham's actions hardly discount Joseph's run for president.
But china and the rest of the world will keep our currency solvent because we are smarter then them. We are a “service based economy” now, that means we don’t get our hands dirty with actually doing things, we will all be teachers, communication and physiology majors telling the rest of the world how to do things. If china doesn’t like it then they are racist just like the rest of the white people in this country. Silly James, you racist.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know you better M. Galt I wouldn't probably be able to sense the sarcasm in your last comment.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the sarcasm extends to the naming of the Communication degree program as well. I mean at least mine wasn't purchased from some "online" university.
ReplyDeleteUtah was willing to join the union as a slave state with New Mexico as a free state. Didn't happen since the US did not want Mormons at the time.
ReplyDeleteThe state of Missouri was not mad at the Mormons for anti-slavery. They were mad because of the voting block power Mormons held.
Prove it! You have been making all sorts of statements with no support. I have never heard any of the things that you have claimed. All I know is what I have read in Joseph Smith's own words. So far I am not sharing opinion, I am sharing facts. You are sharing hypotheticals and assumptions. Where are you drawing this conclusion?
ReplyDeleteJoseph Smith was dead at the time Mormons were in the Utah Territory. His words on slavery are not important at that time period. I suggest you do some research about Utah history. Don't rely on church history if you want the complete picture.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you give me a good place to start then. For example, tell me a source that backs up your statement. That would help me be more "educated".
ReplyDeleteIf I did that you would no longer be ignorant. No, I will throw you a bone and see if you can work it out yourself.
ReplyDeleteSo you want me to be ignorant? What your reasoning there? If I am so stupid and you are so superior, why even participate on our substandard blog postings and not even leave a morsel of education to help us in our "plight"?
ReplyDeleteAs stupid as Geoff is, he's right about the main beef against the mormons in Missouri being their voting block. They were shifting the political climate and that ticked a lot of rednecks off. The same thing happened in Illinois with Nauvoo vs. Chicago.
ReplyDeleteFatty Geoff says that Mormons where not liked in Missouri because they represented too large of a voting block........and slavery was a hot issues at the time for the voting public......no its just too easy. Fatty Geoff is just too easy of a target on this one. Who needs sources when we can just connect the dots in the statements fatty has made.
ReplyDeleteGWH, what if I got my communications degree from an online school?
GWH and Mr Geoff, you are both incomplete in your assessment of the Missouri persecutions. You are right in that the Missourians were affraid of their voting power but what voting power did the saints hold that was a threat to them???? Slavery. That's right. As Joseph voted, so did the majority of the Mormon's. And as I have already shown, Joseph was anti-slavery.
ReplyDeleteSo the voting power that scared them had to do with changing their entire economic system away from slavery. They didn't want the change therefore they didn't, in part, want the Mormon's there.
Do I need to show sources for that too because I can and I will.
JAMES NO SOURCES! By backing up your arguments with facts that are traceable you might cause Fatty Geoff's already high blood pressure to go through the roof causing his/her premature, though not entirely surprising death. Fatty has proven that he/she is scared to death of backing up arguments with facts so please take pity. He/she already sits around dreaming up un-witty comments between shoveling Twinkies into his/her mouth so the extra time it would take to check your references could drive him/her to expel more calories in reading.
ReplyDeleteOh SNAP! An online communication degree! Might as well just eat twinkies with Geoff.
