It is fairly well documented that it is official LDS belief that tattoo's are not inline with church policy. The reasoning given is that tattoo's defile our bodies which are a temple unto the Lord. But, is there another reason for tattoo's to be a spiritual no-no? Could it be that tattoo's are addictive and therefore in some way considered under the rules of the word of wisdom?
From what I have observed it would seem that this is very much the case. In fact this video below would seem to help to prove this concept without apology.
It would seem that even a tattoo of CTR is inappropriate if not for anything other than to show the Lord that you are willing to obey his chosen leaders. But for now, it would seem that getting tattoo's is just another way that money and resources are spent on something selfish and useless - now you can add addicting too.
